The Burning Bush

Moses had his burning bush. When he had fled out to a foreign land and left his life behind, he became a simple shepherd. In this time in his wilderness, he spent time away from the rush and bustle of the world. Then one day he led his flock far into the wilderness and came upon the mountain of Horeb (also called the Mountain Of God). There, he had a face to face encounter when God showed up in a burning bush. Moses was respectful of the awe inspiring and holy God, so he took his sandals off and bowed before Him. And he was humble when God told him to go back to Egypt and save the Isrealites from their Egyptian overlords. He said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” But God knew his worth and knew that he was capable of the task He had given Moses. So he gave Moses His name "I am who is," or "I am who sent you." and sent Moses on his way to an historic adventure that would save his people.

What is your "burning bush?" Have you had an encounter with God where he wrecks you and appoints you with a cause? I prayed for this with the prayer team in the Green Room church after a sermon on it. The next day, I was confronted with the problem of Human Trafficking and the sexual slavery in which countless men and woman suffer. I decided to start researching organizations that are working to solve the problems. I also found out about a movie that is being made called "Hearts of Men." It is a movie for men in the church that calls men to change their attitudes about sex, pornography and sexual slavery. I am planning on getting together a showing at church when this comes out. I am also trying to get involved in some of the groups I have found and have liked some of the organizations on Facebook so I get updates from them...

It was my encounter with God that I asked for that gave me a purpose. May you have such an encounter: all you have to do is pray for it.
